Please see our photos and read our bios and get to know us a little better.
Julie Sibley’s Fleet Feet journey began in August 2012. While driving home from an out-of-state triathlon, she began to entertain the possibility of opening a retail store. Having been active in the local running and triathlon community and mentoring many new athletes over the years, it seemed like the perfect fit. She believed that her desire to provide the tools and education to help people ease into running and her enjoyment in seeing them accomplish their goals closely resembled the vision of a Fleet Feet franchise.
A former high school Spanish teacher, Julie has been running and racing for over 20 years. She started running in high school and when she started could barely run one mile. Through training and perseverance, she’s grown into a regular at races of all distances, and has qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon twice. Her favorite race distance is the marathon, and in June 2017 she completed her goal of running a marathon in all 50 states. She also competes in triathlons and has finished six Ironman races. Julie enjoys educating new runners on every aspect of the sport and loves when they share their tales of accomplishment.
The initial thought back in August 2012 led to a whirlwind of activity. By the following November she was selected as a store owner. Multiple trips to the Fleet Feet, Inc. headquarters in Carrboro, NC to meet with corporate executives and complete store training followed. The store opened in May 2013. Julie is proud to have brought the first downstate Illinois Fleet Feet store to the Bloomington-Normal area and is excited to share her passion for an active lifestyle with the community.
Kelly has been with us since we opened in May of 2013. With more than 30 years of experience in retail and a passion for an active, healthy lifestyle he loves helping other meet their needs. Kelly is an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer and enjoys working with and watching others transform their lives. Kelly believes that working at Fleet Feet allows him to share his passion for fitness with other people. He is an avid runner and has completed many races at distances from the 5K to the full marathon. Outside of running he enjoys biking and hiking. Kelly lives in Normal with his wife, Corinna, and their 3 children, Kelsie, Keegan and Kyleigh.
Jill is from Bloomington, graduated from ISU and is a full time employee for the local parks and recreation department. She has been with Fleet Feet Bloomington since the store opened in May of 2013. Since the opening, she has made many pairs of feet happy in Bloomington/Normal. Jill has run several half marathons, 10Ks and 5Ks. She also enjoys biking and swimming and is always willing to help friends train for races and reach their goals. Jill really enjoys being part of the Fleet Feet team and helping others accomplish their goals as well.
Jess spent plenty of time at Fleet Feet as a customer before joining the team. The mother of three, she spends many of her days going from one activity to another. When not chasing her daughters around, she is an active triathlete and a member of Grim Reaper Fitness. If she's not out running, you can likely find her on her bike or baking with her family. Her favorite local race is the Tri Shark triathlon. She is a certified AFAA personal and group trainer, as well as a certified life guard. Jess lives with her husband Greg and daughters Hannah, Kiersten and Allison on their homestead in rural Heyworth.
Barb started participating in 5Ks 20 years ago as a way of challenging herself and a passion for running was born. Since then, she has amped up her game and continued the challenge by running longer and longer distances. She’s mom to two grown sons and lives in rural Clinton with her husband and two shih tzu puppies. When asked what her favorite race is, she has a hard time choosing just one because each one brings with it special memories, but running the Indy Mini half marathon in 2016 with Olympic marathoner Meb Keflezighi (for a few feet at least) will definitely always rank among the top of the list. Barb absolutely loves sharing her love of running with everyone, so it is not uncommon to see her mentoring one of our training programs when she’s not working at the store. She loves seeing the confidence that completing a training program or a race can bring to participants. One of her favorite quotes is “I often hear someone say ‘I’m not a real runner.’ We are all runners, some just run faster than others. I never met a fake runner.”—Bart Yasso.
Jon joined the Fleet Family in spring of 2017. Originally from South Holland, Illinois, he came downstate to attend ISU and graduated with a degree in exercise science. He decided that his calling is as a professional student and is currently working towards his 2nd masters degree, this one in dietetics to go with his other masters degree in exercise physiology. He would love to someday work in a physiology lab, doing nutritional counseling with endurance athletes. When he's not studying or working at Fleet Feet you can find him training for half and full marathons, playing board games or perfecting his fried zucchini recipe.
Kordell has been part of the Fleet Feet Bloomington family for a while - first as a part of the training programs, as both a participant and a mentor - and now as a member of our staff. As a runner, he mainly focuses his training on 5K and 10K distances but has been known to run some half marathons too. When not assisting our customers or running himself, Kordell attends Illinois State University studying cybersecurity. Kordell loves learning more about living a healthy lifestyle and sharing that knowledge with others to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Nicole joined our Fleet Feet family in the spring of 2018. She spends her days working for a local Farm Management company and when not working at Fleet Feet in the evenings she spends time at home with her two children, two cats Cupcake and Muffin, and her dog Envy. Her favorite pastimes are getting her nails painted different colors of her daughter’s choice, watching Barbie and listening to her son talk about Roblox. She enjoys multiple athletic endeavors and has spent some time coaching high school basketball. She has been a part of one of our local gyms and enjoys kickboxing. She also enjoys long walks on the beach and candlelit dinners…oh wait, wrong site. Her favorite shifts are when she works with Jill and "Jimmy."
Mark joined the Fleet Feet family in the summer of 2018. Mark first became part of Fleet Feet 3 years ago starting out as participant in the No Boundaries 5K program. He then joined the Fleet Feet Half Marathon Training Program and was able to complete his first half marathon thanks to the mentors and training staff. He has also been a mentor in several of the No Boundaries programs assisting other runners. Mark likes to work out at the gym, run and bike ride. Mark enjoys spending time with his 2 dogs (Harley and Maddie), 2 cats (Maisy and Jinx) and his wife Cindy who has also participated in the store training programs. Mark has always gotten more satisfaction from watching runners he has mentored accomplish goals they never thought possible than setting his own persona records.
Tim joined our Fleet Feet family in the summer of 2018. He joined our team after his enlistment in the Unites States Army. He will be attending ISU to finish his Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology and he plans to earn his Masters as well. Tim is married with 2 dogs - Juniper, a beagle and Pepper, a bulldog/pug mix - and kids…tbd. In his free time, he enjoys picking up heavy things and putting them back down as well as getting things off high shelves. He enjoys training at the gym with his wife and looks forward to training for a few races in the future.
