Julie Sibley’s Fleet Feet journey began in August 2012. While driving home from an out-of-state triathlon, she began to entertain the possibility of opening a retail store. Having been active in the local running and triathlon community and mentoring many new athletes over the years, it seemed like the perfect fit. She believed that her desire to provide the tools and education to help people ease into running and her enjoyment in seeing them accomplish their goals closely resembled the vision of a Fleet Feet franchise.
A former high school Spanish teacher, Julie has been running and racing for over 20 years. She started running in high school and when she started could barely run one mile. Through training and perseverance, she’s grown into a regular at races of all distances, and eventually qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon. Her favorite race distance is the marathon, and in June 2017 she completed her goal of running a marathon in all 50 states. She also competes in triathlons and has finished six Ironman races. Julie enjoys educating new runners on every aspect of the sport and loves when they share their tales of accomplishment.
The initial thought back in August 2012 led to a whirlwind of activity. By the following November she was selected as a store a owner. Multiple trips to the Fleet Feet, Inc. headquarters in Carrboro, NC to meet with corporate executives and complete store training followed. The store opened in May 2013. Julie is proud to have brought the first downstate Illinois Fleet Feet Sports to the Bloomington-Normal area and is excited to share her passion for an active lifestyle with the community.
Kordell has been part of the Fleet Feet Bloomington family for a while - first as a part of the training programs, as both a participant and a mentor - and now as a member of our staff. As a runner, he mainly focuses his training on 5K and 10K distances but has been known to run some half marathons too. When not assisting our customers or running himself, Kordell attends Illinois State University studying cybersecurity. Kordell loves learning more about living a healthy lifestyle and sharing that knowledge with others to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Jill is from Bloomington, graduated from ISU and is a full time employee for the local parks and recreation department. She has been with Fleet Feet Bloomington since the store opened in May of 2013. Since the opening, she has made many pairs of feet happy in Bloomington/Normal. Jill has run several half marathons, 10Ks and 5Ks. She also enjoys biking and swimming and is always willing to help friends train for races and reach their goals. Jill really enjoys being part of the Fleet Feet team and helping others accomplish their goals as well.
Jacob, a four-year member of the Millikin University cross country and track teams focusing on the 5K and 10K distances, is excited to be part of the Fleet Feet family. These days you can find him training for marathons, and hopefully someday, ultra-marathons. After graduating from college in 2016, he started graduate school at ISU in the sports management program. Jacob says that in the future he'd like to coach and own a running store so right now he is pretty much "living the dream." This guy is passionate about running and wants to help you have the best run possible.
Jon joined the Fleet Family in spring of 2017. Originally from South Holland, Illinois, he came downstate to attend ISU and graduated with a degree in exercise science. He decided that his calling is as a professional student and is currently working towards his 2nd masters degree, this one in dietetics to go with his other masters degree in exercise physiology. He would love to someday work in a physiology lab, doing nutritional counseling with endurance athletes. When he's not studying or working at Fleet Feet you can find him training for half and full marathons, playing board games or perfecting his fried zucchini recipe.
Barb started participating in 5Ks 20 years ago as a way of challenging herself and a passion for running was born. Since then, she has amped up her game and continued the challenge by running longer and longer distances. She’s mom to two grown sons and lives in rural Clinton with her husband and two shih tzu puppies. When asked what her favorite race is, she has a hard time choosing just one because each one brings with it special memories, but running the Indy Mini half marathon in 2016 with Olympic marathoner Meb Keflezighi (for a few feet at least) will definitely always rank among the top of the list. Barb absolutely loves sharing her love of running with everyone, so it is not uncommon to see her mentoring one of our training programs when she’s not working at the store. She loves seeing the confidence that completing a training program or a race can bring to participants. One of her favorite quotes is “I often hear someone say ‘I’m not a real runner.’ We are all runners, some just run faster than others. I never met a fake runner.”—Bart Yasso. .
Kelly has been with us since we opened in May of 2013. With more than 30 years of experience in retail and a passion for an active, healthy lifestyle he loves helping other meet their needs. Kelly is an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer and enjoys working with and watching others transform their lives. Kelly believes that working at Fleet Feet allows him to share his passion for fitness with other people. He is an avid runner and has completed many races at distances from the 5K to the full marathon. Outside of running he enjoys biking and hiking. Kelly lives in Normal with his wife, Corinna, and their 3 children, Kelsie, Keegan and Kyleigh.
Jess spent plenty of time at Fleet Feet as a customer before joining the team. The mother of three, she spends many of her days going from one activity to another. When not chasing her daughters around, she is an active triathlete and a member of Grim Reaper Fitness. If she's not out running, you can likely find her on her bike or baking with her family. Her favorite local race is the Tri Shark triathlon. She is a certified AFAA personal and group trainer, as well as a certified life guard. Jess lives with her husband Greg and daughters Hannah, Kiersten and Allison on their homestead in rural Heyworth.
Alli is 18 years old and recently moved to the Bloomington-Normal area from Tuscola, IL to play soccer for Heartland Community College. In high school she ran track and played soccer. She plans to enlist in the Army National Guard soon and become an active duty Infantry Officer, then later enter the EMS field as a paramedic. At Fleet Feet Alli hopes to continue to learn anything she can about health and wellness.
Samantha Quigle has been adding functional fitness to people's lives for almost a decade. She is a personal trainer and a former Division I athlete who discovered running after college. A bunch of races and a couple of triathlons later, Sam joined the Fleet Feet team. She keeps all our training programs running (see what we did there?) and she can help you find just the right gear to keep you moving. When she isn’t in the store or on the trail with FF’s running family, Sam keeps busy as the owner and head trainer at Positive Training.
Raegan lives in Normal and works a day job as the marketing coordinator at Heartland Community College. She has lived in the community since 2004 and had her first experience with Fleet Feet as a customer when she lived in Chicago. The daughter of a cross country and track coach, Raegan has been running since she was a kid, winning her first race when she was 4 years old. After years of competitive running, she now describes herself as a “completer” instead of a “competer,” having completed 2 marathons, 10+ half-marathons and almost 20 triathlons. A self-proclaimed advertising geek, Raegan has a degree in journalism with an emphasis in advertising from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Illinois State University. Some of her favorite things are sunny days, cheese, Mickey Mouse, time with friends, the ocean and riding in her car with the top down. She feeds her love of an active lifestyle by running, cycling, swimming and snowshoeing and loves helping others discover their “inner athlete.”
